24/24 - Know all men

"Know all men by these presents" is the beginning sentence of a 19th century land deed, and sets the tone for this leather box, which could have belonged to landed gentry somewhere in the American south. It attests to the passing of time: an era of handwritten documents, lace and flowers, regretted by some, not so by others.
